Kyle Y. Dechant Associate

Kyle Dechant joined Gilbert in 2020. He represents individuals and organizations in complex civil litigation and bankruptcy proceedings. He also maintains an active pro bono practice, representing individuals and non-profits on insurance recovery and advising on coverage strategy. Immediately prior to joining Gilbert LLP, Kyle worked as a litigation and restructuring associate in Baltimore, Maryland at a prominent mid-Atlantic law firm.

Kyle received his law degree from the George Washington University Law School where he served on the George Washington Law Review. Prior to attending law school, Kyle worked in Washington, D.C. on public policy issues related to low-income families, including serving as a fellow with the Congressional Hunger Center.

REPRESENTATIVE MATTERS

  • Assisting in representing court-appointed claims representative in Chapter 11 bankruptcy and adversary proceedings to assess and recover insurance proceeds for the benefit of personal injury claimants.
  • Serving as special insurance counsel to post-bankruptcy trustee in the recovering of funds for victims of wildfires.
  • Representing congressionally chartered trust on multi-state, business interruption losses and recovery resulting from COVID-19 related shutdown orders.
