Monique Abrishami

Monique Abrishami is an experienced litigator whose practice focuses on complex civil litigation and trial work.

Before joining the firm, she was a Trial Attorney at the Public Integrity Section of the United States Department of Justice’s Criminal Division, where she investigated and prosecuted corruption and fraud cases in federal districts around the country. Monique has extensive experience investigating, trying, and defending on appeal matters involving violations of federal laws, including conspiracy, bribery, extortion, fraud, honest services fraud, gratuities, obstruction of justice, and the Federal Election Campaign Act.

Monique’s litigation work with the Justice Department included over a dozen bench and jury trials, an oral argument before the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit, appearances in federal courts around the country, legal arguments involving intricate constitutional issues, and coordination with senior government officials in the legislative and executive branches of the federal government.

Monique clerked for Judge Diana Gribbon Motz of the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.

Representative Matters

  • Representing state and tribal entities in ongoing efforts to hold pharmaceutical companies liable for the damage they caused in the opioid epidemic.
  • Prosecuting a sitting United States Senator for corruption charges in a litigation effort that included two rounds of appellate briefing and a three-month trial.
  • Prosecuting a former state senator and a businessman on corruption charges, both of whom were convicted after a four-week trial.
