Sarah Sraders Associate

Sarah Sraders joined Gilbert LLP as an associate in 2020.  She represents individuals and organizations in a wide range of complex matters, including high stakes bankruptcy proceedings and insurance recovery litigation.  She has significant experience across many lines of insurance, including general liability, product liability, directors’ and officers’, business owners’, and environmental.  Sarah also maintains an active pro bono practice, most recently assisting individuals seeking parole and clemency.

Immediately prior to joining Gilbert LLP, Sarah clerked for Judge Mark A. Goldsmith of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan.  Before that, she was an associate at a prominent international law firm, working on litigation and enforcement matters.

REPRESENTATIVE MATTERS

  • Representing a bankruptcy trust in Chapter 11 bankruptcy and adversary proceedings to recover insurance proceeds for the benefit of personal injury claimants.
  • Representing creditors’ committee in pursuing opioid defendants’ insurance coverage for harms caused by the national opioid crisis.
  • Assisted in securing settlements on behalf of a Fortune 500 energy company to recover hundreds of millions of dollars for unprecedented coal ash contamination environmental claims in the context of a multi-dimensional mediation involving more than a dozen insurers.
  • Pursuing litigation on behalf of a bankruptcy trust against dozens of insurers in state and federal court to recover insurance proceeds for the benefit of abuse survivors.
  • Securing funds for individuals who endured torture at the hands of foreign governments.
