Obtaining Social Security Benefits

Gilbert LLP has represented numerous individuals applying for Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefits.  In a recent example, we represented an individual suffering from numerous serious health conditions who was denied benefits by the Social Security Administration following erroneous findings that he was not disabled.  We worked with him to review his extensive records, understand his health conditions, submit a written brief to the Social Security Administration, and prepare him for an evidentiary hearing at which we explained to an Administrative Law Judge why our client was disabled under the pertinent standards.  Following the hearing, at which our client also spoke, the judge reversed the initial denials, finding our client eligible for both SSI and SSDI benefits, with substantial backpay.  The matter was referred to us from Legal Aid.
