Jon brings to Gilbert LLP over a decade of experience.  At Gilbert, he has had an active role in the firm’s largest insurance recovery litigations, including appearing in depositions, authoring significant briefs, and pursuing document discovery.  Jon is also actively representing firm client Michael Cohen in his appeal of the dismissal of his federal suit for damages against Donald Trump and other federal officials.  He has led pre-litigation investigations, shepherded matters through intensive, protracted discovery and motions practices, prepared and executed trials in state and federal court, and negotiated favorable settlements.  Jon brings a broad, diverse skill set from his time at two top Am Law 100 firms to Gilbert’s active, insurance recovery and bankruptcy portfolio.

Jon also has a robust pro bono practice that pairs his litigation expertise with a commitment to equal justice under the law.  He has worked extensively with local and national civil rights groups to protect the rights of vulnerable individuals and communities across the nation.

• Led trial team in civil litigation in federal court, challenging novel government theory of property seizure.  Representation included critical cross-examination cited by jury in awarding client total victory.
• Led corporate investigation in matter involving significant Congressional and regulatory oversight, anticipated litigation, and extensive public interest.  Representation led to regulatory declination of further action.
• Managed multi-year litigation involving 90 named clients collectively sued for breach of contract in connection with sports team relocation.
• Led, with national civil rights co-counsel, Section 1983 class action against municipality challenging police department’s stop-and-frisk practices, resulting in consent decree and resignations of police and civilian oversight leadership.
• Created factual foundation for class action litigation against municipality asserting Fourth and Fifth Amendment claims concerning the destruction of property owned by persons experiencing homelessness.
