Gilbert Attorneys and Staff Tackle Housing Repair Project With Rebuilding Together DC * Alexandria

Gilbert attorneys and staff made a hands-on contribution to their community today, working with the non-profit Rebuilding Together DC • Alexandria to help a family in Washington’s Southeast neighborhood with a range of home repair and improvement projects.

Rebuilding Together DC • Alexandria and its volunteers seek to help create healthy neighborhoods in the DC area by maintaining housing for low-income homeowners and enabling residents to live safely and independently in their homes.  The immediate goal—providing critical home repairs that eliminate health and safety hazards—was the focus of Gilbert’s efforts today.

Gilbert’s volunteers worked on needed repairs, replacing window screens, assembling storage shelves, repairing plaster walls, scraping and painting the front porch, and patching the cracked front concrete walkway.  Today was Gilbert’s third volunteer service day with the Rebuilding Together organization, and more than a dozen attorneys and staff participated.

A key tenet of Gilbert’s philosophy is to “give back,” including participation in and support of public interest organizations, community initiatives, and local educational and charitable activities.
