Gilbert Lawyers Named to the Lawyers of Color Hot List

Awards Come as Gilbert Aggressively Seeks to Diversify Its Legal Talent

Gilbert LLP announced today that two of its lawyers, Lelia Parker and December Huddleston, have been named to the 2023 Lawyers of Color Hot List.  The list recognizes junior- and mid-level attorneys working in law firms, companies, and government agencies who show promise in their careers and demonstrate a strong commitment to advancing diversity in the legal profession.

The firm’s leadership is deeply committed to diversifying its lawyer ranks and working to expand opportunities throughout the legal profession.  Gilbert is pleased to see Ms. Parker and Ms. Huddleston recognized for sharing those values and supporting underrepresented lawyers.

Ms. Parker joined Gilbert in 2021. She represents individuals and organizations in complex civil litigation.  Immediately prior to joining Gilbert LLP, Lelia worked as an associate in the Baltimore office of a prominent national law firm.

Ms. Parker received her law degree from the University of Baltimore School of Law where she served on the University of Baltimore Law Review.

Ms. Huddleston joined Gilbert in 2021. She represents individuals and organizations in complex civil litigation and bankruptcy proceedings.  Prior to joining Gilbert LLP, she worked on civil litigation matters and projects involving site lease agreements and real estate in D.C. and Maryland.

Ms. Huddleston received her law degree from New York University School of Law. During law school, she participated in the Civil Litigation Employment Law Clinic and the Civil Rights Mass Incarceration Clinic.

Lawyers of Color honorees were chosen by a selection committee, composed of the editorial staff, fellows and advisers, that spent months reviewing nominations and researching legal publications in order to identify promising candidates. Selections were also made on the basis of noteworthy accomplishments, with special attention given to candidates who were active in diversity pipeline initiatives.

“We are thrilled that Lelia and December have been recognized for the excellent work they do with us at Gilbert,” said Kami Quinn, Gilbert LLP’s Chair.  “We look forward to supporting their role in the further progress toward transforming our profession into one that truly looks like America.”
