Gilbert LLP is very happy to welcome back to the United States our client Todd Leininger, who was unjustly held in a Venezuelan prison for five years. Upon Todd’s release, his mother Barbara Leininger issued the following statement:
“Over the past five years, all I have hoped and worked for is Todd’s safe return home. This was a long and often heart-breaking journey, but I am so grateful to be reunited with my son and to have him back home in Indiana.
“I would like to thank the team that helped Todd and our family throughout the past five years, without whom we would not be celebrating Todd’s return today: officials at the State Department both in Washington, D.C. and in Venezuela; many members of Congress and their staffs, particularly Senator Todd Young and his office; our lawyers at Gilbert LLP in Washington, D.C. and our attorney in Venezuela, Miriam Mizrahi Salazar; the SKDKnickerbocker team; the Hostage US team; and the Swiss Embassy.
“Todd is now resting after his return. The past few years have been tough and I look forward to this time with my son. I pray that there will come a day when no family will ever experience a situation like this again.”
