Gilbert Partner Richard Shore Named to D.C. Panel Charged With Developing Sound Plans for District Reopening

Gilbert LLP is pleased to announce that partner Richard Shore has been appointed to Washington, DC Mayor Muriel Bowser’s ReOpen DC Advisory Group.  The Advisory Group was formed to develop recommendations on reopening the District safely and sustainably through a plan based in science and tailored to the needs of the community.

Shore was named to the Equity, Disparity Reduction, and Vulnerable Populations (“Equity”) Committee.  The Equity Committee has been asked to focus on how the District’s recovery efforts will promote investments in communities hardest hit by the virus and find strategies to address existing inequities and make the District’s systems more fair and more resilient.

The Advisory Group is chaired by Ambassador Susan Rice and former Secretary of Homeland Security Michael Chertoff.  The Equity Committee is chaired by Donna Brazile, political strategist and commentator and former chair of the Democratic National Committee, and Delano Hunter, Director of the DC Department of Parks and Recreation.

Richard said of his appointment:  “I grew up in the DC area and the District has been my professional home for more than 30 years.  I am thrilled to have this opportunity to contribute to efforts to reopen DC in a responsible, thoughtful way and to help ensure that all who live and work here receive the support they need to be full participants in the life and economy of this great city.”
